Star!! Star is one of Yato's Important People and his TOP TEAMMATE along with Mushroom (Blade's third.) And he cares about her, for a variety of reasons. Some of it's purely self-serving: he needs her around and wants her attention because she's his lifeline and so it's simply in his best interest to, say, keep a velociraptor from eating her. But he does care about her as a person!! genuinely. At this point. In his own Yato way. Which is also why he wouldn't want a velociraptor to eat her.

To him, she's weird, but quirky in a fun way, and he does kind of admire her ideals, even if he doesn't actually share them. He does worry about her a little, though, because she definitely pushes herself, and she has gone through way more shit than anyone should. I mean, most people in Kyr have, but she seems to get it especially bad. But Yato is not a therapist and you don't want him to be. So as long as she seems to bounce back, he will just. LET HER DO THAT.

What he really wants is for her to acknowledge and approve of him. Validate him, Star!!!! It makes him very happy when she does. HE WOULD MAKE SACRIFICES NOW that he might not have before, if not doing so would hurt and/or disappoint her. Even before, when he was in a Bad Game without her, he's considered What Would Star Do. Beyond simply forgetting about him, an actual nightmare scenario for him would be if she just realized one day that he's actually terrible and she doesn't want him around anymore!!! He'd be very sad.

Nothing's gonna keep him from fuckin' with her though and one day taking her body for a joyride. You can assume he's bugging her every day and subtly following her around occasionally too and just being generally creepy and obnoxious. He's probably gone through her room when she's not around and spies on her sometimes from the trees when she's outside. Though it's true that he splits his time between seeking her attention and other people's, like Mushroom and Yukine and now Hiyori, because he is an attention whore. So she is freer now from the Yato than she was. But she will always be teenage girl teammate #1 in his heart, and teenage girl #2 overall, I'm sorry it's just that he has a massive creepy crush on another one. Star can be best man at their wedding ok thanks.
